Hi! My name is Arielle (28) and I’m looking for a new roommate because my sister, with whom I currently live, is getting married and moving soon! It’s about an apartment of approximately 84 m² in Utrecht Overvecht, where you will live with me and my cat Kiwi. So it’s not a student house with many roommates, but really living together just the two of us in an apartment, so a good connection is really important! Therefore, I preferably seek a woman between about 25–35 years old, who works (or studies and also works) and is single. A bit about me I would describe myself as a social introvert. I enjoy spending time together occasionally, like watching a show, gaming (I have a gaming PC and a large TV), eating together, or just chatting! But my evenings are usually quite calm, and I can also just relax on the couch or in bed. I don’t go out every night; I usually do something in the evening or weekend 1–2 times a week. Additionally, I studied earth sciences and paleoclimatology, and I currently work full-time in Bilthoven. I mostly work in the office but also work from home 1–2 days per week. I have my own workspace in my room, so that’s easy to combine if you also work from home occasionally! Because we live here really just the two of us, I like it if the house mainly remains a calm home base and not a place where guests frequently stay overnight. About the apartment The apartment is approximately 84 m² and has 2 bedrooms, a hall, a large bright living room, bathroom, separate toilet, balcony, and a spacious kitchen, so we have plenty of shared living space. My room is about 9.5 m² and the room that’s becoming available is about 11.7 m² (2.83 × 4.14). My room is located in a small hallway opposite the other bedroom, with the shower and toilet between our rooms. The room will be handed over empty, so you can decorate it entirely to your taste! The curtains can possibly be purchased. A number of furniture items in the living room will be taken by my sister. This also creates space to redecorate the living room and kitchen. If you have nice furniture or ideas, we can look at them together; I’m open to that! There’s also a storage room where you can park your bike and other belongings. Kiwi My other roommate is my cat Kiwi. She is a calm, easy cat who likes to be petted. She is used to roaming freely around the house, so doors are usually ajar. Otherwise, she will scratch at them. My sister’s door was usually closed, and she normally doesn’t scratch there, only very occasionally (disclaimer). I take care of her fully, but it’s important that you like cats and think it’s nice that a cat wanders around. Location The center of Utrecht is about 10–15 minutes by bike. Nearby: Station Overvecht – ±5 minutes by bike Bus stop to De Uithof and Utrecht Central – at the door Jumbo & Aldi – ±5 minutes walking Shopping center Overvecht – ±5 minutes by bike Ruigenhoekse polder / nature – practically next door Gyms – several nearby Practical matters The rent is around €1000 per month including (internet, water, electricity, district heating, and other fixed costs). This is an indication; the exact amount is not yet fully determined. The property belongs to my parents, and the contract form is still being worked out (probably a sublease with myself as the primary tenant). This will be properly and clearly outlined according to the rules, and you can just register at this address! The room is likely available from May 1, 2026, although this could be a bit earlier or later. Do you think this suits you?
